Career Development Advisers
Our Career Development Advisers give guidance and support to clients to enable them to make both informed choices about their career planning and to achieve their aims and ambitions. They do this through individual guidance appointments, through delivering a range of participative activities and, importantly, through accredited academic teaching. Modules taught by our Advisers include 'Career and Personal Development', 'Enterprise Skills', 'Managing Self and Others'.
They work closely together in one integrated team, but each Adviser also has a particular responsibility or interest:

Ann Berry Ann is the Career Development Adviser with responsibility for the School of Lifelong Education and Development. She is the Postgraduate Course Leader for the Certificate in Employability and Entrepreneurship and has lead responsibility for Careers Information Resources. Ann has a portfolio career and works for the School of Management as a tutor on a number of modules. Currently working for Career Development Services 2 days per week. Hermione Berry Hermione is the Career Development Adviser with responsibility for the School of Computing, Informatics and Media. She has taught various modules across the school and currently inputs significantly to several computing and creative technologies modules with careers related sessions. Hermione has over 10 years experience in Human Resources, specialising in graduate recruitment, in investment banking, retail and a call centre and also worked as Placement Manager with East London Business School. Roy Christian Roy is the Career Development Adviser with responsibility for the School of Engineering, Design and Technology. She also coordinates our programme of workshops, psychometric tests practice sessions and teaches the CPD Module for IT / Technology and Industrial Engineering and Clinical Sciences students. Roy also has expertise in advising international students and is a Personal Tutor for Foundation Year and first year Clinical Sciences. Catherine Gregory Catherine is the Senior Career Development Adviser with responsibility for the School of Life Sciences. Catherine teaches on modules within Archaeology, Chemical and Forensic Sciences, Clinical Science, Environmental Science, Optometry and Pharmacy, from Foundation to Masters level and coordinates the teaching activities for all modules delivered by Career Development Services. She is currently External Examiner for a 20 credit Career Management Skills Unit at the University of Sheffield and has previously been a manager of a University Careers Service, and Training Manager responsible for the professional development of over one hundred staff. Linda Holdsworth Linda is the Career Development Adviser with responsibility for the School of Management. She is the Module Coordinator for Career & Personal Development Module for law students and co-ordinator of the Employer Mentoring Scheme. Linda is also responsible for coordinating the training needs for staff in Career Development Services. With over 12 years experience as a Careers Practitioner, Linda has supported a range of clients from school leavers to undergraduates and graduates. Heather Marshall Heather is the Career Development Adviser with responsibility for the School of Health. She is Module Coordinator for the Career and Personal Development Module for Pharmaceutical Management students and module tutor for the Life and Career Planning Module for Combined Studies students. Heather has particular responsibility for working with postgraduate researchers and students with disabilities and also coordinates the Matrix Quality Standards for the Career Development Services. Heather has extensive experience as a Careers Adviser in Higher Education having previously worked at the University of Huddersfield and as Head of Careers Service at Leeds Trinity. Shirely Marsland Shirley is the Career Development Adviser with responsibility for the School of Social and International Studies. She coordinates careers modules for Economics and Combined Studies. She also has a particular remit for providing services to mature students and co-ordinates the Careers Service’s professional guidance work. Shirley has e xtensive experience as a Careers Adviser having previously worked with Leeds College of Technology and in various Local Authority Careers Services in Leeds, Lancashire and Manchester.
